Why we need this

Placement is an administrative necessity if you don't already have a certificate of your previous French level (e.g. DELF, DALF, DCL). It guarantees you land in the right group and progress properly.

We'll also need the test if you cleared your previous level with the bare minimum — a low pass often means you're still shaky on the next level's foundations.
